Commenting On.

I love my tiny wallet sized ereader.

This thing has single-handedly allowed me to read wherever I go. I also have a kobo, but reading on that while you're waiting in a long line somewhere just isn't possible if you don't have a bag on you.

It's called the Xteink X4

Size: 114mm × 69mm × 5.9mm (4.49in × 2.72in × 0.23in)

This thing just attaches to my phone. You can attach it like an iPhone's magsafe with their provided ring, or chuck it in your pocket with virtually no additional baggage.

Now to the cons, that are actually it's best features---no software bloat. It has 400kB of RAM (yes "kBs"), No touchscreen, No always-on internet, and an incredibly lightweight OS.

I love these anti-features. It's so refreshing to be able to pick up a device right on the screen and not have my fingers performing a waltz with the UI.

It's also awesome that there is no internet connection. No distracting book store, no accounts, no apps, etc.

What you see is what you get. An ereading device made to read books.

Something that's truly special, and that I need to praise, is THE COMMUNITY. The community really came together to make this device special. In it's brief existence, it already has several amazing open-source operating systems (that are better than the stock one). It's incredibly easy to flash just by plugging in your device and going to a website to click a button. On top of that, just look at this website and see how much the community has done for this thing:

It reminds me so much of how the PlayDate found its success from people being excited to make stuff for it.

As for a reading device that's always on me though, I really love this thing. I never leave home without it.

if you're actually interested in buying, just know:

I'm really happy I began reading again, and pretty happy with this little thing.
